Ship customization was one of the later updates to POTCO but what if you don't know what you want to do to that new War Frigate you just got I will explain a little about each upgrade and what ships i recommend for each upgrade Note: if you don't agree with me that is fine your aloud to have your own opinion!

To get the materials you need to customize your ship you need to sink ships!

Note: You can't upgrade Light Class Ships! Sorry Mate! :(

First their is no better place to start then with the first 3 tiers each one suits different players play style!

Note: Hull prices are effected by your ship!

Streamlined:
We all have had that moment when your being chased by 2 bounty hunter and a Talley-Ho both are no fun to deal with and to be honest both can sink you in a matter of seconds!

Recommended ships:

Sloops, and Galleons!

Now speed isn't everything in the beginning you do loose cargo and turning but you get it back at the 3rd upgrade however this isn't really useful if your ship is can get out of a jam like a Frigate or a Brig

Ships sometimes get destroyed from blasts from Enemy Ships remember the time when you were just about to make it home to Tortuga and the little Panther sinks you! Speed can be nice but what if more Hull points tickles your fancy?

Reinforced:
For the time when your just need to get their in one piece!

Recommended ships:

Galleon, Frigate, And Brig why not sloop? Sloops are meant to be fast more for hit and run missions not really to fight that Tally-Ho that wants your head!

Cargo:
Useful for for getting more gold to customize your ship or a new project!

Recommended Ships:

Galleon, Frigate And Brig! Why not sloops? For the same reason above it isn't their nature to be the cargo ship!

Now lets look at the special hulls these let you shoot special broadsides like Fire Brand, Thunder Bolt, Fury, ETC...

Copper Head:
This upgrade will make sure you get their in one piece and blow up everything in your path!
-Gotten from the Reinforced Tier-

Recommended Ships:
Frigate and Brig! Why not the other 2 The galleon is slow enough and the sloop is meant to go fast not be the ship that comes home with battle scars!

Skull & Bones:
Are you like skulls or you just like the Power of this amazing upgrade!

This upgrade give the ship Fury broadsides and lets be honest Fury rounds are Awesome!

-Gotten From Reinforced and Cargo Tier-

Recommended Ships:

Sloop, Galleon, Frigate, and Brig! Sure if you go with reinforced it will be cheaper but you will be slower but you get the speed back with the upgrade!

Fortune Hunter:

Not enough cargo No Problem!

Makes your broadsides shoot Fire Brand shot!

-Gotten from the Cargo Tier-

Not only do you get more cargo you get more Hull Points more speed and more Turning! Probably the best upgrade!

Recommended Ships:

Galleon By Far! Frigate, and Brig!

Fire Storm:

Lets face it Fire can be fun! Especially on enemy ships!

-Gotten from Streamlined and Cargo Tiers-

Whats more fun then setting your cannon balls on fire and shooting them at people?

Makes your broadsides shoot Fire Brand like fortune hunter!

Recommended ships:

Sloop, Galleon, Frigate and Brig!

Storm Chaser:

The best for Hit Run and Fun!

This upgrade is amazing if you need to get out of range and use your cannons like a sniper rife!

-Gotten from Streamlined-

Makes your broadsides shoot Thunder Bolt!

Recommended Ships:

Sloop, and Galleon

Now lets talk about Rigging when you put special rigging it changes your sails look a tad and gives a boost to sailing skills!

Offensive Rigging: helps your cannons do more when Open Fire is used!

-Makes your sails darker-

Defensive Rigging: makes your ship take even less damage when you use Take Cover!

-Makes your sails a tad lighter and has hard to notice holes-

Speed Rigging: This makes your ship into a bullet when you use Full Sail!

-makes your sails have a slightly noticeable stripe!-

Now lets talk about just cosmetics for your sails!

-Color doesn't require any materials and the different colors cost more or less-

Note: That different ships don't effect color price!

The colors are...

Plain, Gray, Tan, Olive, Purple, Blue, Cyan, Red, Gold, Black, Rose and Maroon!

Now lets talk about Emblems All of the emblems come in Black and White while some have 1 unique color like the Snake and Spider!

Note: All Emblems cost 5,000 No matter what ship you have!

The Different Emblems are...

Snake, Spider, Dragon, Falcon, Rose, Flame, Bull, Wolf, Wings, Heart, Bull Skull, Dagger, Claw, wasp, Scorpion, Storm, Skull, Shark, Mermaid, and Octopus!

Now your have a idea of how each upgrade works and what effects the price and what doesn't! You know you have to make the right choice on what ships would be best each upgrade! I hope this helps your choice when TLOPO hits open beta so you can make the right choices for your ship!
